Since 1939, WIX® Filters has been an innovator in filtration products. WIX designs, manufactures and distributes products for automotive, diesel, agricultural, industrial and specialty filter markets. Heavy Duty Air Filters

It only takes eight ounces of dirt to destroy the engine of a heavy duty machine. This fact makes WIX air filters, which are 99.9 percent efficient, critical to the life of an engine.

There are many components to consider when selecting air filters. One of the most important elements is the type of sealing gasket. WIX premium air filters use more expensive compounds like silicone, rather than foam or rubber gaskets, in order to assure a proper seal under harsh conditions.

When selecting air filters take a close look at the media or paper. WIX premium air filters feature embossed pleats and pleat stabilization beads that help the filter trap more dirt and last longer.

Another key element of heavy duty air filters is the end caps, which should be designed with structure and fit in mind. WIX premium heavy duty air filters often go to the added expense of adding metal end caps with handles, which allows for ease of installation and helps ensure that the filter becomes one with the housing to protect the engine.

Another innovation is WIX’s ability to produce air filters with precise embossed pleats, stabilization beads and various media basis weights designed to maximize the filtration media surface area. With greater media surface area, filters can trap more contaminants while maintaining low air flow restriction for efficient engine performance.

Heavy Duty Oil Filters

Oil is the life-blood of an engine, which means the oil filter should never be taken for granted, especially in harsh heavy-duty environments. The small price maintenance teams must pay for premium filters is well worth the cost when you consider the components that make up an oil filter.

Premium oil filters provide many benefits over their cheaper counterparts, including:

• Thicker base plates (standard .155 inch thickness) for consistent thread strength, easier thread engagement, positive inner-element support, and consistent gasket compression.

WIX heavy duty oil filters are also available in XD (extended drain), XE (extra efficiency) and ecoLAST (double oil drain intervals) versions.

WIX XD Oil Filters

The WIX XD (extended drain) oil filter is engineered to increase the miles driven between oil changes by up to 50 percent, thus reducing down time and allowing fleets to significantly extend oil change intervals when combined with proper oil analysis. This could mean savings on oil, filters, disposal and maintenance costs that can add to the profitability of your fleet. Rigorous industry tests have shown that the WIX XD oil filter lasts longer, runs cleaner and more efficiently than the competition in both the sludge and the multi-pass tests and traps up to 50 percent more contaminants.

WIX XD oil filters feature patent pending “Spin Flow Technology” designed to increase filter life. The angled fins are placed where the oil enters the filter to start the process of directing heavy particles to the coarse filtration element in order to remove them from the oil. This allows the XD multi–density wire back media in the fine filtration element to trap finer particles and last longer. The XD high-strength media will trap the larger particles being “spun” down and will trap media clogging sludge.

WIX XE Oil Filters

The WIX XE (extra-efficiency) oil filters are the most efficient and cost-effective filters in severe conditions. They feature microfiber “glass” media in order to filter out more of the small, engine-destroying particles. This special glass media offers less resistance to oil flow, therefore providing better protection on start-ups, especially in cold weather. Also, the glass media won’t absorb water like cellulose media.

WIX ecoLAST Oil Filters

WIX ecoLAST oil filters have proven through more than 1.7 million test miles to more than double oil drain intervals. An over-the-road mega-fleet with 9,000 trucks can save more than $1 million annually by switching to ecoLAST, while a mid-size fleet with 400 vehicles can save more than $51,000 annually. And, WIX’s ecoLAST oil filters are a direct replacement with no changes or modification required to the vehicle.

WIX ecoLAST oil filters capture dirt and soot like a traditional filter, while utilizing a highly engineered media to sequester the acids in the oil. The proprietary filtration media in ecoLAST has no similar competition on the market and does not rely on slow-release technology. WIX ecoLAST oil filters have proven effective with conventional and synthetic lubes, and work with biodiesel, LPG, gasoline and diesel fuels.

Heavy Duty Fuel Filters

The fuel filter is often the forgotten filter. Yet the fuel put into diesel and off-road equipment, more often than not, contains contaminants such as dirt, rust, scale and water. These impurities can plug fuel injectors and carburetors, resulting in engine malfunction or deterioration.

These contaminants often originate from dirty and rusty storage tanks, and as the vehicle ages, from corrosion within the fuel system components. All the more reason to invest in high-quality WIX fuel filters and to maintain them at recommended intervals.

It is also good to remember that the primary fuel filter for any diesel engine should always be a fuel/water separator. All diesel fuel contains some water, and removing it ensures longer diesel injection system life and productive engine uptime. The last few years’ alternative fuels, such as biodiesel, have drawn considerable attention in the industry. When converting to a biodiesel blend, it’s important to remember that biodiesel has a “solvent” quality, which will result in the cleansing of the fuel system, and may subsequently clog the fuel filter. After the initial clean up of the fuel delivery system, fuel filter service intervals will return to normal under biodiesel utilization. Biodiesel also has a tendency to attract more water mixing with the fuel, increasing the need for proper fuel/water separation.

Heavy Duty Cabin Air Filters

The protective passenger cabin air filter is a critical part of a vehicle’s ventilation, heating, air conditioning and defrosting (HVAC) system. In addition to the benefits of breathing clean air, when the cabin air filter is dirty or clogged, less air passes through the filter, making it harder to keep the air clean and flowing, hampering the performance of the HVAC system and shortening the life of vital system components.
